The CMMI Institute is a wholly owned subsidiary of ISACA and exists to act as ‘steward’ for the CMMI Model and the supporting performance solutions ecosystem.
The institute is responsible for maintaining and evolving the CMMI model and all supporting components in order to ensure that the best practice within it maintains pace with current development in the industry.

What is the Partner Network and how can they help?
Most recently for example, the CMMI Institute has been working on an extension to the basic CMMI model to provide a Maturity model for the use of AI technologies within organizations (this new material is expected to be released in June 2026).
In addition to their role as steward for the CMMI, the CMMI Institute also maintains a partner network of licensed organizations who have been selected and certified by the Institute to deliver a range of CMMI related products and services. It is lartgely through the partner network that most organizations interface with the CMMI Institute.
Partners provide a range of services and products to help organizations adopt and successfully implement improvement programmes based around the CMMI model. These services are broadly divided into the following three categories:

Training and Certifications
The CMMI Institute develops and maintains a comprehensive suite of training programs that provide the foundation for a complementary set of certifications in the subject of CMMI. These classes provide coverage of the CMMI subject matter at all levels from the initial, introductory 'CMMI Practitioner' certification supported by the Building Organizational Capability course all the way up to mastering level courses to support the training of new instructors and lead appraisers.
Many of these courses are available from CMMI Partners, with some of the more specialised ones being managed and delivered directly from the CMMI Institute.

Excellence in Measurement Technology have an international team of highly experienced trainers who deliver training course for both EMT and the CMMI Institute, and through our association with EMT, Casmaran Ltd delivers one of the most prolific public training schedules within the CMMI Community.

Appraisals
Appraisals are carried out by a team of experienced, trained individuals led by a certified Lead Appraiser. Lead appraisers are maintained and licensed by the CMMI Institute and are sponsored in their role by a CMMI Partner organization.

Consultancy Services
CMMI is a large and complex model and to get the most benefit from using it, it is often useful to engage the services of a partner organization to provide consultancy support to your organisation.
By using the expertise of trained and experienced CMMI consultants, your improvement program can be fine-tuned to be as effective as it possibly can.
As well as delivering training and planning and carrying out appraisals, CMMI Partners have consultants who can provide a full range of support services including:
